  Angel Falls in Canaima National Park
Venezuela. The
National Park is located in Bolívar, State south of the Orinoco
river.
Many
people consider this area the 8th Wonder of the World. In 1975 this
three million hectare National Park was proposed as Natural Patrimony
for Humanity by the International Union
for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
It
is the 6th. largest national park in the world.
Angel
Falls falls for more than 975 meters from the top of the gigantic
Auyantepui "Kerepaküpai Merú. Kerepaküpai means 'the deepest
place', while merú means 'falls' named by the Pemon Indians still living
in the area.

Salto Sapo:
From here you will cross the lagoon on a "curiara" (Indian
dugout canoe) which will take you to a hiking trail where you will begin
an easy hike to the waterfall El Sapo, here you will find yourself
following the trail that takes you directly behind the curtain of water
of this incredible waterfall (be ready to get wet!!). After the
excursion you will be offered a typical Creole lunch overlooking the the
Canaima lagoon.

AREKUNA: Price:
2days / 1night: Price $ 375.
Overnight: Arekuna is a lovely camp located on the Caroní river, on the
edge of the Canaima National Park. We offer bungalows, each with two
rooms, each room with its own private bath. On your flight to Arekuna
you will over fly the Angel Falls. At Arekuna you have several choices
of different excursions.
Trip to Las Babas Rapids (easy); these nearby rapids are an impressive
example of the strength of the rivers in this part of the world. When
the river level is low enough (usually December through May ) you will
be able to see the Indian petroglyphs which were carved by the Caribe
Indians many centuries ago.
Excursion
to the Nonoy Tepuy (moderate); after a 20 minute boat ride, you will
take a 40 minute hike to this Tepuy. Along the way you will be able to
enjoy the typical scenery of the "Gran Sabana". Excursion to
Canaima (optional) (easy); this is full day side trip. You will take a
boat ride up the Caroní river, then on smaller dugout canoes you will
connect with smaller rivers that will take you closer to Canaima. There
you will travel over land to experience Canaima (see Canaima).

three day / two night trip by dugout canoe to the Angel Falls is

KAVAC: Day tour: Price
$ 180.
Kavac
is located on the south side of the Auyantepuy, the 45 mile diameter
tabletop mountain (Tepuy) home to the Angel Falls (3300 ft.). On your
flight to Kavac you will over fly the Angel Falls and you will land at
the Indian village of Kavac. Here you will be able to hike (moderate)
into the Kavac gorge to discover rivers and waterfalls of incredible
beauty. A typical lunch will be served. A part and sometimes from your
guide, all the personnel of this camp are local Indians who live in this
different valley. Includes flight roundtrip from Canaima to Kavac.
Overnight: 2Day / 1Night: $ 200.
Per
night: $90.
For
those travelers that like staying for one or two evenings, your posada
or hut will be a typical "Churuata" with double rooms, each
with its own bathroom. Several hikes to the Auyantepuy are available.
You can also visit the Indian village of Kamarata (approximately a one
hour hike over flat terrain). There is not always electricity in this
camp. If Lights are powered by gas lamps.
Additional Excursions: You can hike in the Kamarata valley for two
days-one night or for as long as an entire week. Also a four day / three
night trip by dugout canoe to Angel Falls is available.

This
is the oldest of the camps in the area. Founded in the 1950's by Rudy
Truffino "Jungle Rudy" it is now operated by his daughters.
This camp with double rooms and private baths is located above Canaima
Falls. Excursions to the Carrao river and to Angel Falls are
available.

3Days / 2Night: $ 260.
Day 1
Arrive in Canaima via airport. Bernal Tours will greet at the airport.
After lunch an afternoon guided tour of the Ara-meru Falls for a swim and walk through natural jade formations. The hike next takes you to Sapito Falls for a visit and coffee to Tomas's original
gratto. After coffee, you will walk to Sapo Falls for a view from behind the water. This is the same path the Tomas constructed over ten years ago.
The hike then continues to Hacha Falls via a two hour hike through the jungle
Return to campamento Bernal at the Anatoly Island for dinner, showers and total relax.
Day 2
Depending on conditions depart by boat for Angel Falls. Other options include a private air charter to Angel Falls
Arrive at Isla Raton (Island right in front of Angel Falls) for overnight camping
sleeping in hammocks.
One hour jungle hike to Angel Falls
Return to camp by noon for lunch
Dinner is served at Raton Island followed by the history of Canaima National Park.
Day 3
Breakfast and prepare for airport departure
